About WhatsWattWorth

WhatsWattWorth is an independent UK website that helps homeowners work out whether solar panels or a heat pump make financial sense where they live.

The problem we're solving is simple. A solar panel in Cornwall produces noticeably more electricity than the same panel in the Highlands, yet most online advice treats the whole country the same. We pull together official, openly published data for every local authority so you can see the numbers for your own area before you speak to an installer.

How we're funded

The site is free to use. We may earn a commission if you request quotes or buy products through some of the links on the site. That never affects the data we publish: the figures come straight from public sources and are calculated the same way for every area. Read our full affiliate disclosure.

What we're not

We're not an installer, we don't give regulated financial advice, and we're not connected to MCS, Ofgem or any government department. Always get more than one quote and check that any installer is MCS certified.
